Classic Comforts

Mid-Century Style at its Absolute Best

When visitors come to my home, they often ask, "Where do you find all this pristine vintage furniture?" They are in disbelief when I tell them that my sofas are actually brand new, vintage-inspired designs made right here in California by Casara Modern.

Glen and I were visiting the Rose Bowl Flea Market when I first stumbled upon Casara in 2013. We had the very same reaction as my guests -- in absolute awe of such pristine, classic specimens of iconic furniture. I knew then and there, I had to have at least one of these pieces in my home.

As we took a closer look at their selection of daybeds, sofas and chairs, we quickly realized that these were finely crafted, handmade pieces. Were these vintage? Tapered spindle legs, finger jointed corners, and solid wood construction were just a few of the details we noticed off the bat. You just don't find furniture like this anymore. We chatted with the booth owners, Henry and Lesa Jara, and soon found out that they actually design and handcraft these pieces at their workshop in Huntington Beach, CA. Again, in complete awe.

The Perfect Fit

When it came time to furnish a second living space in my new home, I was in need of a seating arrangement that could accommodate a large party, but I also wanted to make sure the room remained open and airy to the adjacent kitchen. Casara's Classic Daybed and Classic Sectional were a no-brainer. The sleek, sophisticated lines seem to float in the family room, which keep the look clean and unobtrusive. I was able to customize the orientation of the side table extension, making this the perfect fit for my space. The solid alder wood is warm and inviting, and the plush, velvety texture of the upholstery (Bentley Wasabi) begs to be touched.

From the detailed construction, to crisp seams and tailored welting, this sectional sofa does not skip a beat. What's more is that it can even double as a bed for extra guests by simply removing the back cushions! I find myself retreating here often when I need a quick power nap. While there are many companies now offering mid-century style furniture, no one is doing it like Casara Modern. They are keeping things classic by applying the rules of form follows function. Having their furniture designed and built in the USA makes all the difference, too. I am so pleased with this sofa, and I feel very lucky to own such a functional and beautiful piece -- one that will last a lifetime.

In Good Company

For the past several years, Henry and Lesa have been hard at work, introducing even more stunning products to their collection of finely crafted furniture. You may have noticed that Casara has been popping up all over the map, including in Atomic Ranch and HGTV Magazine to name a few. You can also find their impressive showroom at Urban Americana in Long Beach, CA. For those of you attending Modernism Week 2017 in Palm Springs, be sure to check out the Atomic Ranch booth at the Modernism Show & Sale, Feb. 17-20 for a closer look at Casara Modern, and a chance to win an entire Casara living room!

Cheers, Casara Modern. You guys are absolutely killing it!
